The Devil’s Music in Tallinn

The Devil’s Music: From Paganini to Inferno, a unique piano concert by composer and pianist Arash Azizi taking place on 31 July in Tallinn at the intimate Heldeke venue.

Unlike a traditional recital, the concert will be built around live improvisation on legendary themes associated with darkness, temptation, death, and the supernatural. The journey begins with the famous myths surrounding Giuseppe Tartini and Niccolò Paganini, two figures whose extraordinary musical abilities inspired stories of demonic influence and supernatural inspiration.

Throughout the evening, Azizi will transform themes connected to the medieval Dies Irae, as well as motifs inspired by Franz Liszt, Camille Saint-Saëns, and Igor Stravinsky, creating spontaneous musical narratives that evolve in real time.

The concert will culminate in Inferno, a movement from Azizi’s ongoing Divine Sonata project inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. Audiences attending this performance will receive an exclusive preview of the larger work, as the complete Divine Sonata is scheduled to receive its full presentation later this year at the Tallinn Fringe Festival.

By combining classical tradition, storytelling, improvisation, and original composition, The Devil’s Music: From Paganini to Inferno offers a rare opportunity to experience centuries of musical legends reimagined through a contemporary artistic voice.
