One of Estonia’s leading voices in Classical Music, Estonian Composer Tõnu Kõrvits has contributed string arrangements to Blue Morpho, the upcoming solo album by Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien. The orchestral parts were performed by the internationally respected Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, bringing a strong presence of Estonian Music into a major international release.
Scheduled for release on 22 May 2026 via Transgressive Records, Blue Morpho marks O’Brien’s second solo album and continues his exploration of atmospheric songwriting enriched with orchestral textures. The album was produced by renowned producer Paul Epworth and features several high-profile collaborators alongside Kõrvits.

For listeners following developments in Classical Music beyond the traditional concert hall, this collaboration highlights the increasing international visibility of Classical Composers from Estonia. Kõrvits’s involvement reflects a growing trend in which contemporary orchestral writing from the Baltic region enters global alternative and art-music contexts.
The participation of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra further strengthens Estonia’s reputation as a country whose ensembles regularly contribute to internationally significant recordings. Founded in 1993, the orchestra has become one of the defining ambassadors of Estonian Music, performing widely across Europe and collaborating with major composers and conductors.
Kõrvits himself is widely recognized among today’s prominent Classical Composers for his atmospheric orchestral language and deeply poetic musical imagination. His role in shaping the string sound of Blue Morpho demonstrates how contemporary Estonian Composer voices continue to influence projects far beyond the traditional borders of Classical Music, expanding the global reach of Estonian Music into new artistic territories.
The album’s first preview material has already been introduced ahead of its full release this spring.
