The Transatlantic Rising Stars Project, also known as Transatlantic Stars, has opened a call for European artists, including musicians, visual artists, and filmmakers, to take part in a fully funded cultural exchange with the United States. This three-year initiative, led by the European Union Delegation to the United States in Washington, D.C., aims to strengthen artistic ties between Europe and America by fostering collaborative creation, professional development, and long-lasting transatlantic connections.

At its core, the project supports creative exchange across three artistic strands: visual arts, film, and music. Each strand invites European artists to spend time in the U.S. working alongside American peers, deepening their practice and expanding their international visibility. Selected artists receive travel, accommodation, stipends, and professional mentorship as part of the program’s structured residencies and activities.
For musicians, the Transatlantic Stars Music Program, open for applications between 15 December 2025 and 21 January 2026, offers a two-week immersion into the American music scene. Participants will begin in Philadelphia, where they will take part in collaborative songwriting workshops and industry-focused mentorship sessions hosted in partnership with the Philadelphia Music Alliance. The musical strand includes opportunities to co-create new work with U.S. artists, learn about rights management and touring logistics, and engage directly with music professionals across a range of industry sectors.
Following the Philadelphia phase, selected artists will share their work in public performances and community engagements, gaining experience in connecting with diverse audiences. The program culminates in Washington, D.C., where musicians join peers from the visual arts and film strands for a transatlantic summit showcasing creative outcomes and fostering broader professional networks.
The Transatlantic Rising Stars Project reflects the EU’s broader effort to promote cultural diplomacy and support the development of European artistic voices on the global stage. By encouraging dialogue, collaboration, and sustained creative exchange across the Atlantic, the initiative seeks not only to enrich artistic practice but also to build bridges between cultural ecosystems, empowering artists to grow professionally while contributing new perspectives to international audiences.
