EU Music Grants: Culture Moves Europe Opens

Looking to take your music project abroad? The European Union’s Culture Moves Europe initiative has officially launched its Call for Individual Mobility for 2026–2027, offering musicians, bands, and creative professionals an incredible opportunity to secure funding for international collaboration, touring, and artistic exploration.

Whether you are a solo singer-songwriter wanting to record with an indie producer in Estonia, a DJ looking to connect with clubs in Spain, or a classical composer eager to develop a joint project with a foreign ensemble, this EU-backed mobility scheme is designed to make international career steps a reality. Open to individual artists and groups of up to five people, the program provides comprehensive financial support to help cover the costs of travel, daily living expenses, and project implementation abroad.

Under the current framework, successful applicants receive a daily allowance of €85 to support them during the project, alongside generous travel allowances, €400 for trips under 5,000 kilometres and up to €800 for longer journeys. What makes this music grant particularly attractive for modern, conscious artists are the additional top-ups available. Artists who choose eco-friendly transport methods can secure a green mobility top-up of €400, while family support, visa costs, and accessibility assistance for artists with disabilities are also fully integrated into the funding structure.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old, legally reside in a Creative Europe participating country, and be active in the music, performing arts, or related cultural sectors. No specific level of professional experience is required, meaning emerging underground artists have just as much of a chance as established veterans. The application process requires proposing a clear international project focused on learning, creating, exploring, or connecting, backed by an invitation letter or partnership agreement with an international host or collaborator.

Applications are handled on a rolling monthly basis through the Goethe-Application Portal, with deadlines falling at the end of each month right through to April 30, 2027. This continuous rolling deadline gives musicians the flexibility to plan their international ventures around album releases, festival seasons, or collaborative studio blocks. With results announced just weeks after each monthly cutoff, it provides a fast-moving, artist-friendly funding pipeline.

For independent musicians trying to break past local borders and build a pan-European audience, Culture Moves Europe offers a vital launchpad. Prepare your portfolio, reach out to your international peers, and take your sound across the continent.
