Tallinn's New Year's Eve Concert and Light Show
In Tallinn, the capital city, the New Year's Eve celebrations commenced at 11:00 PM on December 31 at Freedom Square. The event featured a musical journey curated by renowned Estonian musician and producer Raul Ojamaa. Performances included artists such as Alika, Anett, Maris Pihlap, and Duo Ruut. Circus artists Grete Gross and Laura Kivistik added an element of surprise with their performances on swings and a zipline. The evening culminated at 11:50 PM with a unique light show, accompanied by music composed by Ojamaa specifically for the event.
Notably, Tallinn chose to forgo traditional fireworks, opting instead for a light show to protect the environment and safeguard animals sensitive to loud noises. Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski emphasized the city's commitment to creating an inclusive urban environment. To accommodate attendees, public transport services on major city routes were extended, with some lines operating until 3:10 AM on January 1.

Subsequent performances included "Desire" at 12:15 AM and "Choices" at 12:45 AM. These performances were repeated on January 1, starting at 6:00 PM.
The light shows, created by the NGO Öövalgel, explored themes of endurance, creation, desire, and life's choices. The Town Hall bells marked midnight with a special rendition of "Music for the Royal Fireworks" by composer George Frideric Handel.
